Martini Barmen School By Calabrese
MARTINI BARMEN SCHOOL BY CALABRESE
In February 2009 Salvatore visited the Martini Distillery in Torino together with representatives from Martini Russia to discuss a project to educate the up and coming bartenders in the newly flourishing bar industry of Russia. As a result, The Martini Barmen School by Calabrese was born.
Salvatore made several visits to Russia over the summer months, including St. Petersburg and Moscow where he entertained and educated many young and enthusiastic bartenders in the art of cocktail making. Salvatore said he was delighted to participate in the events as it gives him great pleasure to impart some of his knowledge of the history of the industry and to inspire young and promising talent behind the bar.
Martini has played a very significant role in Salvatore's career, he became aware of its importance as a brand and its presence in so many of the early classics as his career progressed. For example The Negroni, The Manhattan and needless to say The Martini Cocktail and the very first drink he ever made at the age of 11, The Americano !!
Salvatore enjoyed a very warm welcome where ever he went and made many new friends. The school was a great success and many applicants were disappointed as there were not enough places to accommodate everyone who applied. One participant travelled for no less than three days across the continent to hear what Salvatore had to say.
Salvatore said 'I hope it was worth the Journey!'
