Salvatore At Fifty Now Closed
Salvatore at FIFTY is now closed. Despite the plethora of awards and its financial success until the last drop was poured from the silver shaker, the bar was caught up in a joint venture situation, which is now in liquidation. Awards received in just five years of operation included Best New Bar, Best Bar, Best Cocktail Offering, Best Spirits Selection, Best Bartender on two occasions and Best Bar Team.
I am shocked because it happened so quickly. What made the bar such a magical place was the bond between the people who worked there, my team. They were loyal to me to the last and I say thank-you to them. The bar was successful to the end. It just could not be extricated from the escalation of an unfortunate situation.
It's been great to have support from all over the world.
The telephone hasn't stopped ringing - I've had phone calls, texts and emails from many, many friends and colleagues who all feel they have lost something.
I had the passionate drive to have my own place, and there was nothing more magical than the day I saw it finished, looking the luxurious way it did, with the heart and soul of the wonderful people who came to work with me there.
To see it closed - it breaks my heart.
